My block is now resembling an estate development with almost all grass trampled on by the machinery and diggings. My neighbour has decided to address their issues with water run-off, well after their house being built. The same story is happening with the new builds all down the street. With the help of my groundworks manager, Paul, my water issues are being addressed from the outset with serious swales and drains. THe trenches are all ready for the final power and NBN conduits, and water pipes are in the ground with numerous garden taps. I am waiting for council to put in the sewer pipe, then all landscape digging will be complete. The tanks are now all in-situ.

Service trenches, tanks and rainbows.

Just before I went up the hill to collect the pot of gold... Fire fighting tank in place on the left. Other tanks temporarily put on house pad Base ready to put tanks behind the shed It's amazing how much dirt we are still taking out, just so that everything looks just "so", and that we dig and shape the land to ensure all the water from the inevitable downpour goes where it is supposed to go. The trench for the mains power with the orange conduit and the white conduit for NBN fibre. Although I plan to go off-grid, I am ready for mains connection if economic to do so :) Tiny inspected the trench to ensure it met the building code and also for any exposed bones she could get her teeth into. And under they go... The shipping container being dragged out of the way. It will go up the back in due course. The rye grass on the fill batter is coming through. The compulsory fire-fighting tank with regulation connection. The plumber did a nice job with the...

Excavation Start & First Tank

Image
A new stage is underway! These photos are from 14th June, yesterday. An excavator has been commisioned to dig trenches and do more work on the batter. I planted some Rye Grass a couple of weeks ago on the front fill batter, just before the big pour of 55mm. It is coming through already, which is very exciting. I also planted some Clover just after the rainfall event, but I don't think any of it has sprouted yet. Some of the tanks have arrived. The bed for the firefighting tank was ready and the tank was lowered into place. We were not quite ready to put the other tanks into place at the back of the platform, so they have been put to one side for now.
